Quality Education

Louisiana is leading the nation in education reform. We must continue to demand that our tax dollars are getting the best results for our kids.

We spend $3.7 billion dollars per year in state funds on K-12 education. Every year public schools in Louisiana receive on average $11,000 dollars per student in public funding. In St. Tammany Parish, we are fortunate that this money is put to good use in one of the state’s best public school systems; one that I greatly benefited from. This has long been a source of strength for our community. We need to make sure that the children of Louisiana get the best possible education and that the taxpayers are getting their money’s worth.

I will work to improve the quality of education by:

  1. Promoting school choice programs in underperforming school districts
  2. Providing greater independence and flexibility to principals and teachers
  3. Reducing the dependence on standardized testing for evaluations
  4. Expanding vocational and technical programs for high school students
